Most of our audience remember the Rockpalast nights at the Grugahalle in Essen, which were broadcast live on German TV and via Eurovision all over Europe twice a year. Commander Cody was the guest on 1 July 1980. Art student George Frayne had already reached cult status with his band, Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen. The name derived from a sci-fi TV series, and their music consisted of boogie, rock 'n' roll, country - albeit the latter not of the 'perfect world' variety but with an edge; and lots of high spirits.
