 | JOHN COLTRANE Blue Train (Very Rare [circa] 1959-61 US

for further details on this all-time masterpiece... BLP1577)
Tracklisting: Blue Train
Moment's Notice
Locomotion
I'm Old Fashioned
Lazy Bird
Label Design: -
With 'Inc' & 'R' lettering after 'Blue Note'. Deep groove with '47 West 63rd - NYC' address - although unusually Side 2 shows just 'NEW YORK USA'!
This second variant collector's copy was pressed just after “Blue Note Records” became an incorporated company & a registered trademark. The same fine sound as the 47W63rds pressings without the 'INC' and 'R' on the labels is present. We have play tested this record & the sound is immense, no doubt coming from an early batch of the second run with stampers originating from the same Matrix/ mothers as the original 47W63rds previously mentioned.
A combination of Van Gelder’s sound engineering & Plastylite pressing [with or without the 'R'] is well & truly the 'golden age' of highest quality, Blue Note pressings.
Condition : -
The sleeve shows a little wear to the edges with no discolouration to the off white reverse, with the tax stickers still affixed to the reverse. The top edge shows the beginnings of a seamsplit - overall graded EX-
The labels are nice & clean and show some obvious spindle marks. The vinyl itself shows obvious signs of wear and is graded Good - background noise/hiss etc can be detected with a few light pops during the title track and elsewhere - but no skips or jumps and overall plays well throughout. Mint copies have sold for well over four figures, so here's a decent play copy for only a fraction of the premium price - highly recommended. |
